Participants in this workshop can experience "Kintsugi," a traditional Japanese technique for repairing
broken or chipped pottery and porcelain using natural tree sap lacquer, known as "urushi." This
method involves bonding the broken parts with lacquer and sprinkling gold powder along the seams
to emphasize the cracks, transforming them into new expressions of beauty.

Kintsugi goes beyond mere restoration; it embodies profound cultural and spiritual significance. It
symbolizes a value of cherishing objects—not discarding them when broken, but repairing and
continuing to use them. This philosophy aligns with sustainable living and the Japanese tradition of
fostering long-lasting relationships with possessions.

In this workshop, participants will experience the final steps of the Kintsugi process, which is applying
lacquer and sprinkling silver or gold powder to complete the repair.

Please be advised that direct contact with lacquer can cause skin irritation. Gloves and other
protective equipment will be provided during the workshop to prevent direct skin contact.
Those in poor health are more prone to reactions, so please consider this prior to signing up.
