Participants in this workshop can experience "Kintsugi," a traditional Japanese technique for repairingbroken or chipped pottery and porcelain using natural tree sap lacquer, known as "urushi." Thismethod involves bonding the broken parts with lacquer and sprinkling gold powder along the seamsto emphasize the cracks, transforming them into new expressions of beauty.
Kintsugi goes beyond mere restoration; it embodies profound cultural and spiritual significance. Itsymbolizes a value of cherishing objects—not discarding them when broken, but repairing andcontinuing to use them. This philosophy aligns with sustainable living and the Japanese tradition offostering long-lasting relationships with possessions.
In this workshop, participants will experience the final steps of the Kintsugi process, which is applyinglacquer and sprinkling silver or gold powder to complete the repair.
